From the new Beitou station, along the Zhongshan Road outside, you come to the Beitou Hot Spring Museum.

The building itself is very special. It combines Japanese and Western architectural styles into one. In the museum, you can also learn about the history of Beitou and enjoy Beitou stone, the treasure of the town hall.

The predecessor of Beitou Hot Spring Museum is "Beitou hot spring public bathhouse". In 1913, the Taipei state hall imitated the Izu mountain hot spring in Shizuoka County, Japan, and built this bathing place for ordinary people to soak in soup. It was the largest hot spring bathing place in East Asia at that time. However, after the end of the Anti Japanese War, the bathhouse was gradually abandoned. It was not renovated until 1998. It was built into a Beitou Hot Spring Museum and reopened to the public. At present, it is listed as a class III historic site in Taiwan.

During the Japanese occupation period, people would come here on the second floor to have a rest and drink tea after soaking in hot springs.

The main body of the museum is a double-layer building in compromise with foreign countries. The lower layer is made of red brick, round arch and painted glass, which is a typical British style. The upper floor is a Japanese style wooden house with tatami floor and Japanese style sliding door. In the old days, people would take a rest and drink tea on the second floor after making soup in the bath on the first floor. Today's Museum still retains the baths used in those years, but no longer provides bubble service.

The first floor of the museum has a western style corridor.

Beitou Branch of Taipei Municipal Library, adjacent to Beitou Hot Spring Museum, is the first green building library in Taiwan. The reason why the library is "green" is that the library uses a variety of environmental protection and energy-saving materials.

There are many hot spring hotels in Beitou, but the only one with a long history is longnaitang hot spring bathroom (when Xiaoyou went to visit, "xingnaitang" - Yicun hotel was still closed). The predecessor of Taki Nai Tang is "Tiangou nunnery", which was founded by Japanese Hirata Yuanwu in 1896. It is the first hot spring hotel in Taiwan. It has a history of more than 100 years and is still in operation today. Takinai soup is a Japanese traditional naked soup, divided into men's and women's bathrooms. There is only one large bath in each bathroom, and there are no spa facilities, maintaining the previous style. The hot spring water used in longnai soup is qingsuquan of geothermal Valley, which is beneficial to the body. The only defect is that the water temperature is slightly higher. At the beginning, takunai soup was characterized by "common people" and "the masses". Even today, more than 100 years later, it is upgraded to a Beitou historic site, and it still maintains an ultra-low price of 90 yuan per time.

The street in Beitou is very leisurely. It's very comfortable to walk here.

Longnaitang

Still the same. It's very delicious

Along Zhongshan Road to the East, you can enjoy one of the wonders of Beitou, "geothermal valley.". Geothermal Valley is a deep depression formed before the eruption of volcano, which forms a hot pool due to the injection of hot spring water. Because of the high temperature of the pool water and the continuous transpiration of heat, it is also called "digaogu".

After the hot spring, go to another wonder of Beitou geothermal Valley! It's free

From a distance, there is a pool of light blue water.

Geothermal Valley

The water temperature of the geothermal Valley is as high as 90 ℃, and the water vapor is continuously evaporating. In the past, the geothermal valley was open to the public to soak hot spring eggs, but for the sake of safety and water quality protection, it is no longer possible.

Many Japanese will come to see geothermal valley.

Beitou cultural relics museum is very interesting, but it's really a little far away. Xiaoyou walked a long way on the road alone  = =  The main body of Beitou cultural relics museum is an elegant Japanese style pure wood building, which was built in 1921. It was once used as a hot spring hotel "Jiashan Hotel" and a guest house of "Shenfeng special attack team". In 1998, the ancient building was listed as a historic site in Taipei City and was opened to the public after renovation. There are more than 4000 Taiwan cultural relics and aboriginal cultural relics in the collection, which can provide a glimpse of the early Taiwan Customs. The architecture of the museum itself is also worth savoring. Japanese tatami, cloisters, windows and seats are all antique.

If you want to know more about the history of Beitou, you can visit Beitou cultural relics museum. Beitou cultural relics museum is a little far away. It's a long way to go.

Every time I go to Taipei, I always go to Beitou to have a look. Peitou is one of the most interesting places in Taipei. The ancient hot spring soup house and the geothermal valley with sulfur gas all year round attract many people to taste the old days. Take a 30 minute MRT ride and spend tens of NT dollars on the hot spring water. After soaking in hot spring, you will not only feel refreshed and relaxed, but also get rid of the tiredness of traveling. Even your skin will be much smoother.
